Description
NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky takes its name from its first owner. The hotel was established in 1866 by a Polish tailor, Adolf Wilhelm Krasnapolski, who arrived in the Netherlands only ten years earlier. Krasnapolski first opened a popular café, often called the Polish Café, and added rooms for rent, and later rebuilding it into a modern hotel. It was the first hotel in Amsterdam at the end of the 19th century to have warm water and telephones in each of the rooms, and by 1883 already serviced by electricity.

Facing the Queen's Palace, the hotel on the Dam was such a success that Krasnapolski bought 39 small houses in the area to build the hotel as it stands today - the biggest five star hotel in the Netherlands, with 468 rooms, 1 Tower suite and 6 Junior suites, 36 Apartments, and three restaurants: the French Reflet, Bedouin Shibli and Japanese Edo & Kyo Winter Garden (restored in 1990). Its congress center accommodates up to 2000 guests.

NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky prevails through comfort, convenience, and a low profile. Its tradition is to offer luxury without ostentation. Despite its size, it is warm and welcoming. While certainly old fashioned in its atmosphere, it comes out in a positive way, as it remains modern in its service, means of communication, and attention to detail. You will feel at home there.

How to get there:

From the Airport
The Schiphol International Airport is situated about 15 km south-west of Amsterdam. There are regular trains going to Amsterdam Central Station. The journey with the train from Schiphol airport to the center of Amsterdam takes approximately 20 minutes and will set you back about EUR 3. The NH Krasnapolsky hotel is a 10 minute walk from the central train station (Centraal Station)
There is a KLM shuttle bus service from Schiphol Airport to most major hotels. A one-way ticket costs approx. EUR 7 and can be purchased on the bus.
Alternatively you can take a taxi. The NH Krasnapolsky hotel is 25 minutes by taxi from the airport. The price for a taxi ride is approximately EUR 32.

By Train
From Central Station ("Centraal Station") the NH Krasnapolsky hotel, located on the "Dam square", is about a 10 minute walk. There are taxis available at the train station to get you to the hotel. Most trams will also take you to the Dam square; if in doubt ask the tram driver.

By Car
The A10 Ring road runs around the centre of Amsterdam with junctions to many destinations in Amsterdam. The Ring road connects to, among others:
From A4 from Schiphol, The Hague and Rotterdam: Arriving at the 'Nieuwemeer' intersection, follow the 'A10 West/Zaanstad' signs. After a few kilometres, take the 'S105' signs. At the end of the Raadhuisstraat, turn right and then immediately left into the Paleisstraat. Follow this street, keeping the Royal Palace on your left. You will see Dam Square in front of you and, behind the Monument, the NH Krasnapolsky hotel

From A2 Utrecht:
Following the A2 motorway, keeping to the 'Centrum' and 'S110' signs. Drive over the river Amstel, turning right directly after you cross the bridge. Follow this street, the Amsteldijk, keeping the river on your right. After a few kilometres at the T-junction at the end of the street, turn left into the Stadhouderskade (S100). Turn right into the second street that follows, the Vijzelgracht, which becomes the Vijzelstraat. Follow this street until you get to Muntplein. Here you follow the curve to the left onto the Rokin. Drive along the Rokin until you get to Dam Square, where you turn right. You will see the NH Krasnapolsky hotel diagonally to your left.

Please note that unless you have a hotel with private parking space, parking in the center of Amsterdam is very expensive and cars with expired or no parking permits will be towed away.

The metro (underground) system in Amsterdam is quite limited. The closest metro stop is at Centraal Station. There is no service between Schiphol Amsterdam Airport and the center of Amsterdam.

On Foot
